The first ever project i got set as an art student. and not really my favorite although i am quite pleased with the outcome..
the plan i imagined from the start.
Experimenting. oil paints on black sugar paper.
The final piece :)
an image of my face being drawn by my hand is done in indian inks and pencil wheras in the background a bright yellow serpentine shape to show my fav colour (yellow) and my past (animal management course/my love of snakes and reptiles) the blue is purely to make the yellow stand out and to provide a colourfull contrast to the inks also.

Moose-Raven :D
So it turns out my indian totum animal(s) are both moose and raven because of different qualities they both have.. We were told to make a ceramic sculpture of our animals however i couldnt choose between the two of mine and decided to make a wierd mixture that i feel kinda works :D
i made it by first 'pinch potting' the head shape then moulding the antlers. (the antlers had to be left for 2 weeks to dry out to be solid enough to mould onto the head) the rest is pretty much easier seen than said :) and even though everyone else thinks its ugly, i love it because its mine and its unique :D

Waves and Water project.
this waves and water project was one of the most enjoyable breifs i had that year. it was a sculpture project so most of these peices are designed in wet clay and plaster is poured over the clay and once dry it is turned out and painted with faded watercolour. these are the results :)
this peice is acrylic painted onto ply wood. the image is waves in an oil spil and was also an enjoyable piece to do. this is now pride of place in my bathroom :D

LIFE DRAWING the bane of my student life!
Life drawing is one of the most chalenging thins ive done during my artistic escapades. It never gets easier to do but i think that over time ive got slightly better at it.
these pieces are all from my first year of my fine art national diploma (not in order of doing them though).
there are a mixture of materials from;
- sugar paper
- plain paper
- chalk
- charcoal (sometimes chalk and charcoal together)
- plain pencil
- graphite &
- some watercolour studies introduced towards the end of the year
the models are known as Ken and Angela and theyre great for putting up with us :D
